SHOPLIFTING SUSPECT WITH WARRANTS, ARRESTED AND RELEASED

Cambridge, MD-On April 1, 2024, Officers from the Cambridge Police Department were conducting a routine property check at WaWa, a popular convenience store chain, when they were notified of a shoplifting at that location. 

According to the officers at the scene, the shoplifting had occurred just minutes before their arrival. They subsequently relayed a detailed description of the culprit to other police officers, who managed to locate the suspect in the 600 block of Pine Street in Cambridge, Maryland.

The suspect tried evading capture, initiating a foot chase that lasted several blocks, but was eventually apprehended at Cross Street and Pine Street. 

The police identified the suspect as 56-year-old Johnny Mack Jenkins from Cambridge, MD.

Upon arrest, Jenkins was found in possession of items reported stolen from WaWa. These items were rightfully returned to the convenience store. It was also discovered that Jenkins had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest. 

The suspect was taken to the Cambridge Police Department for further processing and made his initial court appearance before a District Court Commissioner. 

Despite the circumstances surrounding his arrest, Jenkins was released on a Criminal Citation for the WaWa incident with a charge of theft less than $100.00 in value. 

Additionally, Jenkins was released on his personal recognizance for the outstanding warrants.
