National News - Slade Gorton & Co., Inc. has issued a voluntary recall for a specific lot of Wellsley Farms Farm-Raised Atlantic Salmon. The product was sold exclusively at BJ's Wholesale Club locations. The recall was initiated due to the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

The affected product is packaged in 2-lb bags bearing the Wellsley Farms logo. It was sold in stores across Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Sales of the affected lot occurred between January 31 and February 7, 2026.

Consumers can identify the recalled product by checking the back of the bag. The UPC code is 888670025963. The lot number is 3896. These numbers are located below the cooking instructions and Nutrition Facts panel.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious health issues. Healthy individuals may experience high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.

However, the infection poses a more severe risk to pregnant women, potentially causing miscarriages and stillbirths. No illnesses related to this product have been reported to date.

The issue was identified after a random sample collected by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration tested positive for the bacteria. Slade Gorton & Co., Inc. is currently investigating the source of the contamination. The company is taking steps to prevent future occurrences.

BJ's Wholesale Club is notifying members who purchased the item. Consumers who believe they possess the recalled product should contact the company at 1-888-628-0730. Representatives are available to provide instructions on how to receive a full refund and properly dispose of the remaining product.
