Salisbury, MD - The Eastern Shore is set to host one of its most significant sporting events of the year as the United States Specialty Sports Association's (USSSA) Eastern Nationals makes its much-anticipated return from July 15 to August 2.

Bringing together over 320 girls' softball teams from 12 states, this three-week event will have Wicomico and Worcester Counties, along with the Town of Ocean City, buzzing with softball enthusiasts. More than just a sporting spectacle, the tournament is projected to create an economic impact exceeding $17 million, emphasizing its importance to the region.

The event's success is largely attributed to the collaborative work of the Mid-Atlantic Amateur Sports Alliance (MAASA), a strategic sports marketing partnership between Ocean City, Wicomico County, and Worcester County.

"This event is a major economic engine for our region and a powerful example of collaboration between the MAASA partners, which is critical to host an event of this scale," said Justin Polizzi, Wicomico County's tourism manager. "Community support continues to grow as well, as we work to enhance the off-field experience for everyone involved."

Opening ceremonies for the USSSA Eastern Nationals will be held on two separate dates. Salisbury University will host the festivities on July 15, followed by a second kickoff event in Ocean City on July 22. Members of the media are encouraged to attend, with additional details available in the attached invitation.

This tournament not only highlights the Eastern Shore as a prime destination for sports tourism but also underlines the region's capacity to host events of this magnitude through unified efforts and community engagement.
