Princess Anne, MD - On Saturday, February 3, 2024, at approximately 5:01 PM, firefighters from Somerset County and Wicomico County, were dispatched to 29016 Polks Road in Princess Anne, Somerset County, Maryland for a reported structure fire.

When firefighters arrived, they found a one-story home fully involved. It took 27 firefighters nearly 2 hours to get the fire under control.

The family took a loss of approximately $100,000 to the structure and an additional $30,000 in loss of contents.

Smoke alarms were present in the home but it is undetermined if they activated due to the owners of the home, not being on location at the time of the fire.

The fire was ruled accidental due to an electrical failure in the crawl space under the home.

The occupants of the home were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross and family members.
