State Fire Marshals Office Investigating Tuesday Night Chicken House Fire in Rhodesdale
Rhodesdale, MD - An investigation is underway following a structure fire in Dorchester County, Maryland on the evening of Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
At approximately 9:37 p.m., the Eldorado-Brookview Volunteer Fire Department, along with multiple other departments from Dorchester County and Wicomico County, responded to a fire in the 5900 block of Cokesbury Road in Rhodesdale, Maryland.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a 500-foot by 40-foot chicken house engulfed in flames. The incident escalated to a two-alarm fire, which also prompted the response of a Tanker Task Force. Approximately 60 firefighters worked for 90 minutes to bring the fire under control.
The chicken house was not in operation and was being used for storage at the time of the fire. The Office of the State Fire Marshal estimates the structural damage at $25,000 and the loss of contents at $5,000.
The fire was first discovered by a neighbor. The cause and area of origin are currently under investigation by the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal.
