State of Emergency in Wicomico County to be Lifted Today
Wicomico County, MD - Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano has announced that the State of Emergency for Wicomico County will end today. The expiration is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2025. This decision follows a review of the road and weather status across the county. It was determined that conditions have improved sufficiently to lift the emergency by the close of standard business hours. Executive Giordano acknowledged the work of county staff during the event. "I want to commend our essential employees, especially our entire Public Works Department for their outstanding efforts during this storm," said County Executive Giordano. "Their dedication, long hours, and professionalism ensured our roads were treated and maintained to keep residents as safe as possible under challenging conditions." County officials indicated that conditions will continue to be monitored as temperatures fluctuate. Residents are advised to remain cautious while traveling. Operational updates include the Newland Park Landfill opening at 9:00 a.m. and Convenience Centers opening at 12:00 p.m.
