STEVENSVILLE HOMEOWNERS OUT $125,000 WHEN CONTRACTOR FILES BANKRUPTCY

Queen Anne's County, MD - On May 13, 2025, Deputies from the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in Stevensville, Maryland for a report of theft of service.
The victims in this case informed the deputies that they hired a remodeling company to make improvements to their home. The home improvements began in February of 2025 and were supposed to be completed in May of 2025.
The homeowners paid the remodeling company $125,000 to subcontract certain portions of the remodel, but the subcontractors stopped working because they advised the homeowners that they were not being paid by the original contractor.
After contacting the company, the victim was advised they were filing bankruptcy and would not complete they job they started. The victims are out $125,000 and an unfinished addition to their home.
