Queen Anne's County, MD - On November 6, at approximately 11:00 p.m., an officer conducting patrol in Kent Towne Market was alerted to a vehicle with a suspended registration and an insurance lapse. The registered owner, Erik Perez Cinto, 23, of Stevensville, also did not possess a valid driver's license.

The officer followed the vehicle, a black Dodge Charger, onto Main Street. When the officer initiated a traffic stop, the driver accelerated into a closed business's parking lot before coming to a dead end. The driver then fled the vehicle on foot into a wooded area.

After clearing the vehicle, the officer broadcasted the suspect's description. A search of the vehicle located identification belonging to Mr. Perez Cinto. Deputies and Maryland State Police troopers canvassed the area.

At approximately 12:41 a.m. on November 7, a 911 call was received from an individual who identified himself as "Nathan," claiming his vehicle had been stolen from the Burger King parking lot. The call's location did not match the address provided by the caller.

Deputies responded to both locations. At the address where the call was plotting, homeowners confirmed that Mr. Perez Cinto drove the described vehicle. While inside the home, a deputy located Mr. Perez Cinto hiding in a closet. His clothing matched the description of the suspect from the traffic stop and was covered in mud.

Mr. Perez Cinto denied being the driver or the 911 caller. The officer then dialed the phone number provided by dispatch for the 911 call, and Mr. Perez Cinto's phone began to ring. He pulled the phone from his pocket but denied it belonged to him.

Mr. Perez Cinto eventually confirmed his identity and admitted to being the driver during the earlier incident. He was placed under arrest and charged accordingly. He was also served with additional warrants from the Maryland State Police Centreville Barrack and the Centreville Police Department.

Charges include Resisting Arrest, Obstructing and Hindering a Police Officer, False Statement to a Peace Officer, and multiple traffic violations related to eluding police and driving without a valid license or insurance.
