STEVENSVILLE WOMAN CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE ALCOHOL RELATED DRIVING OFFENSE

Queen Anne's County, MD - On the evening of May 5, 2025, Deputy First Class (DFC) Shultz, of the Queen Anne's Sheriff's Office, observed a vehicle displaying erratic driving behavior, prompting quick action.
The vehicle initially pulled out onto Rt. 18, driving approximately 20mph in a 30mph zone, swaying back and forth across the travel lane.
The vehicle, driven by Evelyn Solis, an 80-year-old lady from Stevensville, Maryland, swayed within its lane and failed to maintain a consistent speed, raising concerns about the driver's condition. DFC Shultz's prompt decision to initiate a traffic stop was essential for protecting the safety of other motorists.
Despite the initial attempt to pull the vehicle over, Solis continued to drive, ignoring traffic signals and the patrol car's siren and lights. This behavior further emphasized the need for caution and suggested possible impairment.
With effective coordination, the vehicle was eventually stopped in the parking lot of Shore United Bank, where DFC Shultz made contact with Solis.
Upon interaction, several signs of impairment were noted, including a distinct odor of alcohol coming from Solis's breath and from the vehicle. Solis admitted to consuming a margarita, and her subsequent failure to perform standardized field sobriety tests adequately led to her arrest.
Solis later declined to take a breath test, resulting in appropriate charges being filed against her.
This incident highlights the dedicated efforts of the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office to maintain road safety and hold individuals accountable for impaired driving. Through consistent vigilance and adherence to protocols, deputies like DFC Shultz work tirelessly to protect community members and ensure lawful conduct on the roads.
Such actions not only discourage future offenses but also reinforce the community's trust in law enforcement's role in safeguarding public welfare.
Evelyn Solis has been charged with the following:
• DUI
• DWI
• Reckless Driving
• Negligent Driving
• Failure to stop at a steady red arrow
• Failure to obey traffic control device
• Failure of driver to drive to curb upon signal by police vehicle
