Structure Fire Causes $175,000 in Damages at Delmar Pole Building

Delmar, MD - A structure fire at a pole building in Delmar, Maryland, resulted in significant property damage on Friday morning, according to fire officials. The incident occurred at 10:56 a.m. in the 8900 block of Bi-State Boulevard in Wicomico County, Maryland.

Firefighters responded to reports of a fire at a 50-foot by 90-foot pole building. Fire crews issued two alarms and deployed approximately 100 firefighters from several fire departments in Maryland and Delaware to the scene.

The blaze was brought under control within one hour of the initial response. Preliminary investigations indicate the fire originated from a burn pile located near the structure.

Officials have classified the cause as accidental, resulting from unattended burning of trash in proximity to the building. The fire caused an estimated $75,000 in structural damage and $100,000 in content losses, bringing the total estimated damage to $175,000.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
