STRUCTURE FIRE DAMAGES CHICKEN HOUSE IN CAROLINE COUNTY

Caroline County, MD - A structure fire severely damaged a 60' x 600' chicken house owned by Tuckahoe River Farm Poultry LLC on Tuesday morning.


Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:51 A.M. after the owner discovered the blaze in the front portion of the building.


The fire caused an estimated $500,000 in structural damage and $25,000 in loss of contents. The Denton Volunteer Fire Company served as the primary responding department, with assistance from multiple other units.


A total of 55 firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire, which took approximately three hours to bring under control.


At this time, the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials have stated that the origin of the fire was in the front portion of the chicken house.
