Structure Fire in Fruitland, Maryland Ruled Accidental Due to Electrical Failure

Fruitland, MD - On July 17, 2025, at approximately 3:07 PM, the Fruitland Volunteer Fire Company responded to a structure fire in the 200 block of North Camden Avenue in Fruitland, Wicomico County, Maryland.

  

The incident occurred in a two-story, wood-framed, single-family residence.


The fire originated in the attic of the structure. According to the preliminary investigation, the fire was accidental and caused by an electrical failure.  


Twenty-five firefighters responded to the scene, utilizing one alarm to control the fire within 21 minutes. The building was occupied at the time; however, no injuries were reported.  


The estimated losses from the fire are valued at $50,000 for the structure and an additional $50,000 for its contents.
