Structure Fire in Pittsville Travel Trailer Ruled Accidental

Wicomico County, MD - A structure fire involving a travel trailer occurred on the afternoon of January 2, 2026, in Pittsville, Wicomico County, Maryland. The Pittsville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the incident in the 7000 block of Sixty Foot Road at approximately 1:19 PM.

Upon arrival, fifteen firefighters discovered a 30-foot travel trailer ablaze. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes.

The property sustained an estimated $1,000 in structural damage and $200 in loss of contents (Estimates provided by State Fire Marshals Office). No occupants were displaced as a result of the fire.

The incident was discovered by a passerby. Following an investigation, the preliminary cause has been ruled accidental.

The fire originated in the interior of the trailer, where fumes from spraying insulation were ignited by an open flame heater.
