STRUCTURE FIRE IN ST. MICHAELS CAUSES SIGNIFICANT PROPERTY DAMAGE

Talbot County, MD - A structure fire took place on June 21, 2025, at approximately 1:18 PM in St. Michaels, Talbot County. The incident occurred on Martingham Circle, a two-story single-family townhouse.


The fire was discovered by a passerby, who reported it immediately. The St. Michaels Volunteer Fire Department was the primary responding agency and was supported by various assisting agencies with a total of 45 firefighters. The fire escalated to a two-alarm response and was brought under control in about 50 minutes.


According to the report, the fire originated in the attic due to a mechanical or electrical issue with the air conditioning unit.


Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The estimated financial loss includes $700,000 for structural damage and $300,000 for the destroyed contents.


Local authorities and emergency services are continuing to investigate the mechanical failure as the preliminary cause of the fire.
