Fruitland, MD - The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a serious 1^st-degree assault that occurred on today's date, Friday, November 10, 2023, at Bennett Middle School in Fruitland, MD.  

The victim, who is a juvenile, was assaulted with scissors and was transported by EMS for non-life-threatening injuries. 

The School Resource Deputy quickly detained the suspect and therefore, there is no known threat to the school community at this time. 

The juvenile suspect is 14 years old.  The name of the juvenile suspect will not be released due to the student's age. 

Additionally, due to the juvenile age, no photo will be published from this incident.

The Sheriff's Office will request charges through the Department of Juvenile Services on the following charges:
