Subject Arrested Following Vehicle Pursuit and Recovered Firearm in Cambridge

Cambridge, MD - On the evening of July 23, 2025, at approximately 10:13 PM, officers and detectives from the Cambridge Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle traveling on High Street at Park Lane in Cambridge, Maryland, due to its failure to operate with headlights turned on.


The vehicle did not comply, initiating a pursuit that traversed multiple streets before concluding at Camelia and Cornish Drive.


Four individuals exited the vehicle and fled on foot. During the chase, one subject, later identified as 26-year-old Ashmeir Auhshon Lake of Federalsburg, Maryland, was observed clutching the front of his waistband.


The individual subsequently fell during the pursuit, causing a firearm to fall from his waistband. Lake attempted to flee once more but was quickly apprehended by responding Cambridge Police Department officers.


The firearm recovered at the scene was determined to be a Sig Sauer 9mm containing 17 rounds of ammunition. Upon investigation, the firearmwas reported to have been previously stolen in Delaware.


The remaining suspects fled towards the Greenwood Avenue area and remain at large. Officers conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the other individuals.


Lake was transported to the Cambridge Police Department for processing and presented before a court commissioner. He was later taken to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections and is being held without bond.

  • Handgun on Person  
  • Loaded Handgun on Person  
  • Stolen Firearm  
  • Disorderly Conduct  
  • Failure to Obey Lawful Order  
  • Obstruction and Hindering   
  • Resisting Arrest  


The Cambridge Police Department has stated that this is an ongoing investigation focusing on identifying the remaining individuals involved in the incident.
