CAROLINE COUNTY, MD - The Office of the State Fire Marshal executed an arrest warrant on Friday for Marshall Allan Murphy, 26, of Sudlersville, Maryland. The arrest follows a grand jury indictment charging Murphy with 16 criminal counts, including second-degree arson and three counts of attempted second-degree arson.

The charges serve as the conclusion of a six-month investigation conducted by Deputy State Fire Marshals assigned to the Upper Eastern Region Office regarding an incident at Murphy's Transport in Ridgely.

Investigators determined that the business was targeted as a result of an ongoing dispute.

Evidence gathered during the inquiry indicated that fire damage was sustained by one vehicle, and ignitable liquid was discovered inside three additional vehicles. The estimated total damage is valued at approximately $100,000.

Murphy was taken into custody without incident in Greensboro, Maryland. He is currently being held without bond at the Caroline County Department of Corrections.

Each count of second-degree arson and attempted second-degree arson carries a maximum penalty of 20 years of incarceration.
