Suspect Arrested Following Assault Incident in Cambridge, Maryland

Cambridge, MD - Officers from the Cambridge Police Department have arrested a suspect in connection with an alleged assault that reportedly took place over several days.


The incident began on July 21, 2025, with law enforcement responding to the 400 block of High Street in Cambridge, Maryland, at approximately 11:13 p.m. following a report of an assault.


Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, who stated that they had been assaulted multiple times by the suspect, who was later identified as Jemale Dywayne Garner, a 48-year-old resident of Cambridge, Maryland.


According to the victim, they were punched several times and strangled during the incidents. Officers noted visible signs of injury consistent with the reported assault. The victim was subsequently transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Cambridge for medical treatment.


The suspect, Garner, was not present at the scene when officers arrived. Following the victim's account, charges were filed, and the Court Commissioner issued an arrest warrant for Garner.


At approximately 1:22 a.m. on July 22, 2025, officers located Garner in the 900 block of High Street and placed him under arrest. He was transported to the Cambridge Police Department for processing.


Garner has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Assault in the First Degree  
  • Assault in the Second Degree  
  • Reckless Endangerment  


Following his processing, Garner was released on personal recognizance while awaiting further court proceedings.
