Suspect Arrested for Unauthorized Vehicle Use in Easton
Talbot County, MD - On February 15, 2026, officers from the Easton Police Department responded to the 8700 block of Alicia Drive following a report of the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The complainant stated that a male subject had taken control of their vehicle and refused to return it.
While officers were en route, the complainant contacted 911 again to provide an updated location. Officers were redirected to the 700 block of Dover Road. Upon arrival, the vehicle was located abandoned near the entrance of the Doverbrook Apartment Complex.
Citizens in the area directed officers to the rear of the complex. Officers subsequently made contact with the complainant and the suspect, who was later identified as 61-year-old James Taylor of Cambridge, Maryland.
A brief foot pursuit ensued. During this time, Taylor damaged a fence belonging to a resident on East Dover Street before he was taken into custody.
Initially, Taylor provided a fictitious name to the officers. Once properly identified, it was determined that Taylor had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. A search incident to the arrest revealed that Taylor was in possession of a concealed dangerous weapon.
As a result of this incident, Taylor was arrested and charged with the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, malicious destruction of property, making a false statement, obstructing and hindering, and concealing a dangerous weapon. Taylor was transported to Talbot County Central Booking for processing and for an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
