Suspect Arrested in Cambridge Following Standoff
CAMBRIDGE, MD - On December 19, 2025, officers from the Cambridge Police Department and the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office K9 Unit responded to a residence on Glenburn Avenue.
At approximately 9:23 p.m., authorities attempted to serve an arrest warrant on 30-year-old Delorenze Rushaan Dukes. Dukes held an active extraditable warrant from Delaware for charges including stalking, harassment, and felony breach of the peace.
Upon arrival at the apartment complex, officers identified a vehicle belonging to the suspect.
Police heard movement inside the apartment but received no response when attempting to make contact at the door.
Dukes refused to surrender, though his presence was confirmed when he dialed 911 from inside the residence. Officers stationed outside also observed him briefly appear at a rear window before ducking out of sight.
To ensure the safety of the community, police evacuated tenants from nearby apartments. Officers continued attempts to communicate with Dukes to resolve the situation peacefully.
The Cambridge Police Department Special Tactical Response Team, Criminal Investigation Division, and Drone Unit were subsequently deployed to the scene.
Investigators obtained a search and seizure warrant, which was executed at approximately 11:57 p.m. The Drone Unit flew an interior drone into the apartment and located Dukes lying on a bed.
Officers established communication through the drone and instructed him to exit the apartment. Dukes complied with the orders and was taken into custody.
Dukes was transported for processing and appeared before a Court Commissioner. He was later committed to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections.
In addition to being a fugitive from justice, he has been charged with failure to obey a lawful order, obstructing and hindering, resisting arrest, and disturbing the peace.
The Cambridge Police Department acknowledged the assistance of the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office and Dorchester County Emergency Services during the incident.
