Suspect Arrested in Connection with Several Thefts from Vehicles in Sussex County

Sussex County, DE - The Delaware State Police have arrested 22-year-old Donsha Sturgis from Laurel, Delaware, on multiple felony charges related to a series of thefts from motor vehicles in eastern Sussex County, Delaware.
Between June 10 and June 17, 2025, several thefts and attempted thefts were reported in the following locations: Milton's Autumn Oaks, Overbrook Shores, Vincent Overlook; Lincoln's Eagle Run; and Lewes' Edgewater Estates.
The incidents involved suspects unlawfully entering properties at night and stealing money and valuables from unlocked vehicles.
During the investigation, detectives identified a silver Chevrolet Cruze as the suspect vehicle and later confirmed Sturgis's involvement.
On July 1, 2025, detectives executed a search warrant at a residence on the 2800 block of Daniel Street in Laurel, where Sturgis was arrested without incident. He was subsequently taken to Troop 4, charged, and released on his own recognizance.
The charges against Sturgis include:
- Three counts of Theft Under $1,500 Where the Victim is 62 Years of Age or Older (Felony)
- One count of Conspiracy in the Second Degree (Felony)
- Five counts of Theft Under $1,500
- Eleven counts of Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree
