Talbot County EMT Charged in Infant Abuse Investigation
Talbot County, MD - The Talbot County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Talbot County man following an investigation into the physical abuse of a one-month-old infant. Geovanni J. Greaves, 19, of Wittman, Maryland, has been charged with First Degree Child Abuse, Second Degree Child Abuse, First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, and Reckless Endangerment. According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies with the Criminal Investigations Division began the investigation on March 18, 2026. The case started after the infant was taken to a pediatrician's office with suspicious injuries. Doctors at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton and Johns Hopkins Hospital determined that the injuries were suspected non-accidental trauma. During the investigation, authorities identified Greaves as the biological father of the child. Investigators conducted dozens of interviews, reviewed electronic data, and developed a timeline of events. Based on that work, they identified Greaves as the person responsible for the child's injuries. An arrest warrant was obtained through the Talbot County District Court Commissioner. Greaves was arrested without incident on March 24, 2026, at the Talbot County Sheriff's Office. After his arrest, Greaves was transported to the Talbot County Central Booking facility for processing and an initial appearance before a Talbot County District Court Commissioner. He was then held without bond at the Talbot County Detention Center. A bond review was scheduled for March 25, 2026, before a judge in Talbot County District Court. The Sheriff's Office said Greaves is employed as an emergency medical technician with the Talbot County government. The investigation was assisted by the Queen Anne's County Department of Social Services and the Talbot County State's Attorney's Office.
