The charges stem from an incident reported on May 24, 2025.

At approximately 1:29 a.m. that day, Cambridge Police Department officers responded to a reported armed robbery in the 400 block of Washington Street in Cambridge, Maryland.

Upon arrival, officers interviewed three victims who stated that they had been talking with two individuals on Snapchat and later met with them near Atlantic Avenue and Caribbean Avenue. According to the victims, minutes into the meeting, one of the individuals displayed a teal-colored firearm and demanded their phones.

The suspects then fled the scene on foot, heading toward Caribbean Avenue and Madison Avenue. The victims recognized the suspects from school but were unaware of their names. They also reported that the Snapchat usernames used were not accurate identifiers.

Through an investigation led by the Cambridge Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, Sampson was identified as one of the suspects, specifically the individual who brandished the firearm during the incident. Detectives initially applied for charges on June 18, 2025, with the Court Commissioner; however, the application was not approved.

Continuing their investigation, detectives reapplied on June 27, 2025, at which time an arrest warrant was issued.

Following his arrest, a search and seizure warrant was executed at a residence in the 100 block of Richardson Drive. During the search, officers discovered a teal-colored handgun in Sampson's room.

The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have yet to identify the second suspect involved in the armed robbery, and additional charges may be forthcoming.

The Cambridge Police Department is seeking assistance from the community with any information that may aid in the investigation.
