Teenager Dead, Four Others Injured in Kent County Crash

CHESTERTOWN, MD - A single-vehicle crash late Saturday night resulted in the death of a 17-year-old male and injuries to four other individuals, according to Maryland State Police.


The incident occurred at approximately 11:55 p.m. on September 20, 2025, in the area of Maryland Route 213 and Riley's Mill Road. Troopers from the Centreville Barrack responded to the scene.


A preliminary investigation indicates that a Ford Fusion was traveling southbound on MD-213 when it left the roadway onto the right shoulder. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which then struck a telephone pole and overturned.


A 17-year-old male passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver, a 19-year-old female, was airlifted to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment.


Three other passengers-a 21-year-old female, a 17-year-old male, and a 23-year-old female-were transported by ambulance to Chester River Hospital Center for their injuries.


Police have stated that impairment is being investigated as a possible factor in the crash.


The road was closed for over two hours while authorities investigated the crash. The Chestertown Fire Department, Kent County emergency medical services, and the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration provided assistance.


The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the ongoing investigation.
