Salisbury, MD - The City of Salisbury has announced temporary sidewalk closures as part of a project to improve accessibility and comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Construction at the intersection of Milford Street and South Division Street will be carried out between Monday, July 21, and Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

The city has stated that temporary sidewalk closures and new traffic control patterns will be implemented during this time to ensure safety for pedestrians and motorists in the area. All traffic control signage will be clearly marked, and residents are encouraged to exercise caution, follow posted signs, and plan for additional travel time when passing through the construction zone.

"This sidewalk upgrade is part of an ongoing effort to make the City of Salisbury more ADA accessible," said Mayor Randy Taylor. "By proactively addressing accessibility, we're helping ensure improved mobility and inclusivity for everyone in our community, particularly for individuals with disabilities."

The announcement coincides with Disability Pride Month, which celebrates the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act being signed into law on July 26, 1990. The ADA has played a pivotal role in improving accessibility and fostering equality for individuals with disabilities.

"Enhancing accessibility across Salisbury is not just about infrastructure, it's about inclusion," added Councilwoman Michelle Gregory. "These improvements reflect our city's ongoing commitment to creating an environment where everyone can move through our spaces with independence and ease."

The City of Salisbury appreciates the public's patience and cooperation as this critical project is completed.
