Cambridge, MD - In the late evening hours of March 25, 2024, at around 10:06 pm, a horrific attack occurred in a parking lot near the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center, at Cambridge Plaza.

Upon arrival, the officers noticed a vehicle with damaged windows. Initial investigations led to a male victim, who had visible blood stains on his shirt, and a female victim at the scene as well. According to the victims, they had arranged to meet in the parking lot and were subsequently attacked by the suspect, identified as 44-year-old Eddy Ediberto Garcia Juarez of Cambridge, MD.

The victims recount a terrifying ordeal where Garcia Juarez, wielding a Machete, assaulted the male victim and damaged the vehicle. As a reaction to the attack, the male victim took off running towards the Police Department, chased by other unidentified men.

The officers examined camera footage from the nearby hospital, which corroborated the victims' accounts. The video displayed Garcia Juarez approaching the vehicle with the Machete, causing damage and assaulting the male victim.

The footage also captured Garcia Juarez in an attempted assault on the female victim. Most shocking of all, the video shows Garcia Juarez forcing the keys from the female victim while still brandishing the Machete.

A subsequent police response led to the capture of Garcia Juarez on the 600 block of High St. He was arrested and transported to the Cambridge Police Department for processing and an initial appearance.

The vehicle was also located and towed to the Cambridge Police Department for further analysis. With consent granted for a vehicle search, officers found the Machete that was used in the assault.

Following the processing, Garcia Juarez was handed over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections and denied bond.
