Cambridge, MD - In a surprising turn of events, the Cambridge Police Department made an unexpected drug bust on March 3, 2024, at around 4:40 p.m. while responding to a theft case at the local Walmart.

The suspect was reportedly seen fleeing the scene, heading towards Mr. Tire. Swift action by our diligent officers led them to a subject fitting the suspect's description. The suspect attempted to elude capture by running behind the Cambridge Inn and entering a vehicle.

Upon stopping the vehicle and making contact, the subject attempted to deceive officers by providing a false name. However, a check revealed his true identity as James Wade Masser.

Before his arrest, a thorough search of the vehicle yielded not only Masser's identification but also the discovery of cocaine and related paraphernalia.

Masser was taken to the Cambridge Police Department for processing and made his initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner. He was later released on his personal recognizance.

The charges against Masser include Theft of Less Than $100, Obstructing and Hindering, Fraud Identity to Avoid Prosecution, CDS Possession Not Cannabis, and CDS Possession of Paraphernalia.
