Three Women Arrested Following Theft at Stevensville Target

Stevensville, MD - On January 8, 2026 at approximately 5:10 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the Target in Stevensville following a report of a theft in progress. A loss prevention officer at the store observed three women, accompanied by an infant, placing merchandise into a plastic tote.

One of the suspects was identified by the officer as an alleged previous shoplifter.

Upon arrival, deputies positioned themselves in the shopping center parking lot. They maintained contact with Target loss prevention, who notified them when the women passed all points of sale with the concealed items.

The suspects were stopped and detained after exiting the store. Authorities identified the women as Deshawnatiz Johnson, Montashia Roberts, and Kyleigh Ceja. A total of $922 in stolen merchandise was recovered, and the women were placed under arrest.

During a search incident to arrest, a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) was discovered in Ceja's purse. A further check revealed she had an extraditable felony warrant out of Virginia.

Surveillance footage was used to positively identify all three women as suspects in a previous theft at the same location on December 23, 2025. This brought the total value of stolen merchandise between the two incidents to $1,608.

All three women have been charged accordingly.

Ceja faces two counts of theft between $100 and under $1,500, theft scheme between $1,500 and under $25,000, and possession of a CDS (not cannabis).

Johnson and Roberts have each been charged with two counts of theft between $100 and under $1,500, and theft scheme between $1,500 and under $25,000.

Johnson also has an active and open case for theft that took place in Pocomoke City, Maryland, as well as a Violation of Probation hearing for an original theft charge that occurred in Dorchester County. Additionally, Johnson was found guilty of a theft charge in Wicomico County, which she is awaiting sentencing. Johnson was released on her own recognizance.

Ceja was released on her own recognizance however she had felony arrest warrants out of Virginia, which caused her to be held without bond.

Roberts was released on her own recognizance.
