Salisbury, MD - TidalHealth Peninsula Regionalhas been named the 6th Best Hospital in Maryland by U.S. News & World Reportin its 2025-2026 hospital rankings. The hospital earned High Performing recognition in eight critical and elective care categories, representing the highest distinction available in the Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions rankings.
The recognition places TidalHealth Peninsula Regional among the top 13% of hospitals nationwide, achieving a numerical ranking within a state or medical specialty.
The hospital demonstrated exceptional performance in the following clinical areas:
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Surgery
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Colon Cancer Surgery
- Treatment of Heart Attack
- Heart Bypass Surgery
- Pacemaker Implementation
- Lung Cancer Surgery
- Treatment of Pneumonia
Additionally, TidalHealth Peninsula Regional received accolades as the Best Regional Hospital on Maryland's Eastern Shore and was acknowledged for Best Community Access, underscoring its commitment to providing high-quality care to historically underserved areas.

The Best Community Access recognition highlights TidalHealth's excellence in caring for patients in underserved communities, maintaining high standards of care while addressing critical access needs.
The U.S. News & World Report 36th annual survey evaluated more than 4,400 hospitals across the United States using objective metrics such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications, and quality of nursing care. TidalHealth Peninsula Regional's strong performance reflects care outcomes significantly better than the national average.

For the 2025-2026 analysis, new methodology updates were incorporated, including adding two new categories to the Procedures & Conditions ratings for a total of 22 evaluated areas. These include Heart Arrhythmia and Pacemaker Implantation.
The regional hospital rankings were determined based on a combination of scores from the adult specialty rankings analysis and performance in the 22 Procedure & Condition categories. Among Maryland's more than 40 hospitals, TidalHealth Peninsula Regional placed in the top six, firmly establishing its role as a leader in patient care on the Eastern Shore.
While TidalHealth Peninsula Regional ranked high, affiliated facilities such as TidalHealth Nanticoke in Seaford, DE, and Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, MD, demonstrated performance comparable to their peer hospitals nationwide.
