Town of Berlin Establishes New Policy on Chairs at Parades and Events
Berlin, MD - To ensure public safety and accessibility at town events, the Town of Berlin has announced a new policy regarding the placement of chairs. This policy applies to all public events, including the Berlin Christmas Parade and the Bathtub Races.
According to the new regulation, attendees are not permitted to place chairs on sidewalks or in public areas before the roads are officially closed for an event. Town staff will remove any chairs placed before the designated time.
These removed chairs will be taken to a secure, designated location for retrieval after the event. The town has stated this policy is necessary to "Ensure clear and safe pedestrian pathways," "Maintain ADA accessibility for all attendees," and "Allow equal opportunity for everyone to enjoy the event."
Attendees who need to retrieve a removed chair can do so by contacting the Berlin Police Department's non-emergency line or Town Hall on the day following the event. The non-emergency number for the Town of Berlin is (410) 641-2770.
