TRAFFIC STOP ENDS WITH ARREST OF GLEN BURNIE MAN FOR DWI

Queen Anne's County, MD - On May 20, 2025, at approximately 5:32 PM, Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Deputy First Class (DFC) Johnson was patrolling the area near Rt 300 and Church Street.
During his patrol, he performed a routine registration check on a vehicle. The check revealed that the driver's license was suspended. Additionally, DFC Johnson noticed that the vehicle failed to use a turn signal.
DFC Johnson conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon stopping the vehicle, DFC Johnson made contact with the driver and identified the driver as Shuron Douglas, of Glen Burnie, Maryland.
During their interaction, DFC Johnson observed several indicators that suggested impairment. When requested to submit to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), Douglas refused. Following this refusal, Douglas was placed under arrest.
Douglas was charged with the following:
- DWI by controlled dangerous substance
- Driving while so far impaired by drugs cannot drive safely
- Reckless driving
- Negligent driving
- Driving while suspended
- Failure to display registration card
- Driver failure to obey properly placed traffic control device
- Person driving motor vehicle on highway on suspended license and privilege
- Driver failure to give turn signal during last 100ft of travel
