Traffic Stop in Bridgeville Leads to Arrests on Felony Gun Charges

Bridgeville, DE - The Delaware State Police have arrested Derrick Edwards, 31, of Millsboro, Delaware, and Faythe Wise, 28, of Seaford, Delaware, on multiple felony gun charges following a traffic stop conducted in Bridgeville on August 12, 2025.


At approximately 9:31 p.m., a state trooper on patrol observed a black Dodge Charger failing to properly stop at a stop sign located at the intersection of Coverdale Road and Hastings Farm Road.


The vehicle was subsequently stopped, and the driver, identified as Faythe Wise, along with the passenger, Derrick Edwards, were contacted by the trooper.


During the course of the stop, two concealed and loaded handguns were located on the back seat floorboard of the vehicle. Both Wise and Edwards were detained without incident.


Following the discovery, it was determined that Edwards, a convicted felon who is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition, was in violation of an active Protection from Abuse (PFA) order. He was arrested and transported to Troop 5, where he was charged with the following offenses and released on a $16,500 unsecured bond after being arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7:


  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony)  
  • Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (Felony)  
  • Carrying a Concealed Firearm (Felony)  
  • Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)  
  • Criminal Contempt of a Domestic Violence Protection Order  


Wise was also arrested and taken to Troop 5. She was charged with the following offenses:


  • Carrying a Concealed Firearm (Felony)  
  • Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)  
  • Traffic Offenses  


She was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on her own recognizance. Further investigation is ongoing, and no additional details are available at this time.
