TRAFFIC STOP IN CAMBRIDGE LEADS TO K9 ALERT AND DRIVER BEING ARRESTED FOR CONTROLLED DANGEROUS SUBSTANCES

Dorchester County, MD - On the evening of May 1, 2025, law enforcement officers in Cambridge, Maryland, conducted a routine traffic stop at the intersection of Cornish Drive and Greenwood Avenue. This stop led to the discovery of illegal substances and the subsequent arrest of the driver.


The driver, identified as 26-year-old Dwayne Eugene Dashiell, a resident of Cambridge, Maryland, was pulled over for speeding.


During the traffic stop, the officers called in the Cambridge Police Department K9 Unit to conduct a sniff for the odor of a controlled dangerous substances (CDS) on the vehicle. The K9 unit indicated a positive alert, suggesting the presence of CDS.


Following a thorough search of the vehicle, authorities discovered quantities of cocaine and heroin, which they suspected were intended for distribution.


Additionally, Dashiell was seen discarding a bag of cocaine onto the ground.


Dashiell was promptly arrested and taken to the Cambridge Police Department headquarters for processing before his initial court appearance. He was subsequently transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections, where he is being detained without bond.


The charges against him include possession with intent to distribute both cocaine and heroin, possession of these substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding, and driving on a suspended license.
