Traffic Stop in Millsboro Leads to Three Arrests and Seizure of Firearms
MILLSBORO, DE - Millsboro Police officers arrested three individuals following a traffic stop on December 19, 2025. The incident occurred at approximately 12:03 a.m. on Millsboro Highway near Godwin School Road.
Officers initially stopped the vehicle for a speeding violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, police detected a strong odor of marijuana.
The driver admitted to smoking marijuana prior to the stop. A subsequent investigation determined all occupants were under the age of 21.
Officers conducted a safety pat-down and discovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun concealed in the waistband of a male occupant.
The serial number on the firearm had been obliterated. A further search of the vehicle uncovered a second loaded revolver located beneath the front passenger seat.
Elijah Scheers, 19, of Seaford, was charged with multiple offenses. These include Driving Under the Influence of a Drug, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under 21.
Darrin West, 19, of Seaford, and Khaliah Jackson, 18, of Mardela Springs, Maryland, were also arrested. They face similar charges related to firearm and ammunition possession.
All three suspects were arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 2. They have been committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution. The investigation remains ongoing.
