Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest for Controlled Substances and Open Warrant
TALBOT COUNTY, MD - On November 25, 2025, deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff's Office initiated a traffic stop on Ocean Gateway near Bay Acres Drive. The vehicle was stopped for a moving violation.
The driver was identified as 35-year-old Edward Calvin Monk of Cambridge, Maryland.
During the stop, a Talbot County Sheriff's Office K9 unit was utilized. Probable cause to search the vehicle was developed.
A controlled substance was located during the search, which led to the arrest of Monk. A subsequent records check revealed an open arrest warrant issued by Dorchester County.
The warrant charged Monk with assault and violation of a protective order.
Monk was transported to the Talbot County Central Booking facility for processing. An initial appearance was made before a District Court Commissioner. Monk is currently being held pending further action by the courts.
