Traffic Stop Leads to DUI Arrest in Chestertown

Kent County, MD - On January 10, 2026, Sgt. S. Lockerman initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle located on High Street in Chestertown. The stop was conducted following an observed traffic violation. During the subsequent roadside interview, the officer noted indicators of impairment.

The driver was identified as Tanajah Donya Ward, a 29-year-old resident of Silver Spring, Maryland. Ward reportedly performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests.

Consequently, officers placed Ward under arrest.

Ward faces charges of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving While Impaired by Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, per se. Following the arrest, Ward was released after being issued the relevant citations.
