On October 24, 2023 at approximately 8:30 AM in the morning, firefighters were dispatched to the 300 block of Delaware Avenue in Salisbury, Maryland, for a residential structure fire. Upon arriving, firefighters found the two-story home engulfed in flames.

Multiple fire departments responded, with a total of 35 firefighters on the scene assisting with the fire. It took approximately 30 minutes to get the fire under control.

Fire investigators estimate the home took a loss of $50,000 in structural damage and another $20,000 in loss of contents.

The fire was discovered by an occupant of the home, on the second floor. The fire has been ruled accidental due to combustibles too close to a heat source.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal was assisted by the Salisbury City Fire Marshal's Office during the investigation.  The displaced occupants were assisted by the American Red Cross.
