Two Arrested on Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop on Bunker Street
Cambridge, MD - Two individuals face drug possession charges following a police response to reported Controlled Dangerous Substance/Drug Violations in the 300 block of Bunker Street earlier this week.
On January 6, 2026, at approximately 10:03 p.m., officers from the Cambridge Police Department responded to a call regarding suspicious activity.
Dispatch provided officers with a description of a vehicle where the alleged violations were taking place.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers located the vehicle matching the description. Inside the vehicle were two occupants, identified as 33-year-old Whitney Nicole Gross of Centreville, MD, and 47-year-old James Cecil McCoy Jr. of Cambridge, MD.
According to police reports, officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view while speaking with the occupants. Gross and McCoy were asked to exit the vehicle to facilitate a search, during which additional paraphernalia was discovered.
Both subjects were placed under arrest at the scene. A further search of the vehicle revealed cocaine and a plastic bag containing a quantity of an unknown substance.
Authorities stated that the unknown substance has been sent to a laboratory for further testing and identification.
During a search of his person, McCoy was also found to be in possession of heroin.
Gross and McCoy were issued criminal citations and subsequently released. Both individuals have been charged with CDS Possession (Not Cannabis) and CDS Possession of Paraphernalia.
The investigation remains ongoing pending the results of the laboratory analysis.
