Two Juveniles Arrested Following Altercation at Cambridge South Dorchester High School

CAMBRIDGE, MD - A violent incident at Cambridge South Dorchester High School on the second day of classes resulted in the arrest of two juveniles and injuries to school staff members.
The incident began when a School Resource Deputy was alerted to a student assaulting a school safety monitor. Upon arrival, the deputy discovered a large crowd and multiple individuals engaged in fighting.
Additional law enforcement assistance was immediately requested to address the escalating situation.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Dorchester County Sheriff's Deputies, officers from the Cambridge Maryland Police Department, and troopers from the Maryland State Police Easton Barrack.
The combined law enforcement response successfully de-escalated the situation and restored order to create a safe learning environment.
A 15-year-old juvenile was arrested and faces multiple charges including five counts of Assault in the 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, Failure to Obey a Lawful Order, Disturbing the Peace, Disrupting School Activities, Obstructing & Hindering, and Affray.
During the arrest, this individual resisted officers and both assaulted and spat on multiple deputies.
A second juvenile, age 14, was also arrested and charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree, Disorderly Conduct, Failure to Obey a Reasonable and Lawful Order, Disturbing the Peace, Disrupting School Operations, Obstructing & Hindering, and Affray.
Both juveniles were transported to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office and later released to their guardians. They have been referred to the Department of Juvenile Services for further processing.
Several school staff members sustained injuries while attempting to intervene and break up the fights. The school safety monitor whowas initially assaulted required medical attention and was transported by Dorchester County EMS for treatment.
The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office continues to work in partnership with school officials and law enforcement agencies to maintain safe learning environments in all schools within the district.
