Two Juveniles Charged in Somerset County Fatal Shooting

Somerset County, MD - Two teenagers have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder following a fatal shooting in Somerset County, Maryland. The incident occurred on Monday, January 26, 2026, and left one man dead and another injured.

Maryland State Police have charged a 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, both from Salisbury, Maryland, with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, robbery, and related offenses.

The 17-year-old female was located shortly after the shooting near Stewart Neck Road and Beckford Road. She was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held without bond at the Somerset County Detention Center.

The 16-year-old male was arrested without incident at a residence in Salisbury at 9:45 a.m. this morning, January 27, 2026. He was transported to the Salisbury Barrack for processing.

The shooting was reported shortly after 2 p.m. on Monday in the 11000 block of Dryden Lane in Princess Anne, Maryland.

Upon arrival, deputies from the Somerset County Sheriff's Office and troopers from the Maryland State Police Princess Anne Barrack discovered two victims with gunshot wounds inside a parked 2026 Kia Seltos SUV.

The deceased victim has been identified as 46-year-old Derrick Knox of Salisbury, Maryland. He was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as homicide by gunshot.

The second victim, identified as 41-year-old Kevin Pillar of Salisbury, Maryland, was flown to a shock trauma center for medical treatment.

Investigators from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit have assumed control of the investigation, assisted by the Somerset County State's Attorney's Office and the Somerset County Sheriff's Office. Preliminary findings suggest the shooting was not a random act of violence. A motive has not yet been determined.
