Two Men Arrested on Gun and Drug Charges Following Pursuit in Bridgeville

Bridgeville, DE - Delaware State Police have arrested two men, Tracey Johnson, 28, of Harrington, Delaware, and Joseph Davis, 26, of Georgetown, Delaware, on various gun and drug-related charges after a pursuit in Bridgeville on the afternoon of July 30, 2025.
At approximately 3:05 p.m., members of the Sussex County Governor's Task Force observed a black Dodge Charger traveling northbound on Coverdale Road near Seashore Highway with a registration violation.
Inside the vehicle was a male driver and a male passenger, both Black. Detectives attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to comply and fled at high speed on Seashore Highway. Due to the reckless manner of the vehicle's operation, the pursuit was terminated to ensure the safety of other motorists.
Further investigation led members of the Kent County Governor's Task Force to the residence of the registered owner of the Dodge on Genesis Lane in Harrington.
Upon arrival, detectives observed Johnson and Davis attempting to cover the Dodge with a tarp. While making contact with the individuals, detectives noted Davis placing an object under a landscaping trailer. Johnson and Davis were detained without incident.
During a search of Davis, detectives recovered approximately 1.95 grams of heroin. On Johnson, they found the key to the Dodge Charger. A subsequent search of the Dodge and the area beneath the landscaping trailer resulted in the discovery of the following items:
- A loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine
- A sawed-off .12-gauge shotgun
- Several rounds of .12-gauge ammunition
- An AR-15 upper receiver
- An AR-15 magazine
- Numerous rounds of 5.56 caliber ammunition
- Several rounds of .38 caliber ammunition
- Approximately 27.67 grams of acetaminophen
- Approximately 10.70 grams of a xylazine/acetaminophen mixture
- Digital scales
Both men, prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition due to previous convictions, were transported to Troop 3 and charged with multiple offenses.
Tracey Johnson was charged with the following crimes:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
- Possession of a Firearm or Destructive Weapon if Previously Convicted of a Violent Felony (Felony)
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited Who Also Possesses a Controlled Substance (Felony)
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited Prior Violent Crime or Felony (Felony)
- Possession of a Destructive Weapon - Sawed-Off Shotgun (Felony)
- Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony) - 2 counts
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tier 3 (Felony)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tier 1 (Felony)
- Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)
- Disregarding a Police Officer's Signal (Felony)
- Resisting Arrest
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Reckless Driving
- Driving While Suspended or Revoked
- Expired or Invalid Temporary Registration
- Multiple Traffic Violations
Johnson was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an $89,500 cash bond.
Joseph Davis was charged with the following crimes:
- Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon Semi-Auto or Auto by a Person Prohibited Who Also Possesses Controlled Substance (Felony)
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited Prior Conviction of Use, Possession, or Sale of Drugs (Felony)
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited Prior Violent Crime or Felony (Felony)
- Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony) - 2 counts
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tier 1 (Felony)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tier 3 (Felony)
- Tampering with Physical Evidence (Felony)
- Hindering Prosecution, the Acts Delayed Prevented or Hindered Discovery (Felony)
- Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Davis was also arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $109,500 cash bond.
