Queen Anne's County, MD - A Queen Anne's County sheriff's deputy recovered a stolen vehicle and took two teenagers into custody on the night of March 20, 2026. The arrest followed a brief pursuit after Deputy Mayo spotted a vehicle matching a stolen vehicle report while on patrol.

At approximately 10:33 p.m., Deputy Mayo was traveling northbound on Route 213 when he observed a vehicle matching the description and registration of one reported stolen earlier that evening from Chestertown, Maryland.

Dispatch confirmed the registration matched the vehicle that was stolen, and the deputy continued to follow the vehicle while additional units responded to the area.

A felony traffic stop was then conducted. Two teenagers, ages 16 and 17, were taken into custody without further incident.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies observed a broken steering column. A screwdriver was also located inside the vehicle. Following a review of the evidence, both juveniles received referrals to the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS).

The charges include Theft Scheme $1,500 to under $25,000, Unauthorized Removal of a Motor Vehicle, Theft $1,500 to under $25,000, 4th-Degree Burglary with Tools, Malicious Destruction of Property over $1,000, Rogue and Vagabond, and Driving Without a License.

Because both individuals are minors, their cases will be handled through the juvenile justice system. No further details regarding their identities have been released.
