Two-Vehicle Crash in Queen Anne's County Under Investigation

Queen Anne's County, MD - Maryland State Police are investigating a serious two-vehicle crash that occurred yesterday afternoon in Queen Anne's County, Maryland. The incident involved a motorcycle and an SUV on U.S. Route 50.


The crash happened around 4:59 p.m. when troopers from the Maryland State Police Centreville Barrack responded to U.S. Route 50 at Arrington Road. According to preliminary investigation findings, a Lexus SUV was attempting to turn left from westbound Ocean Gateway onto Arrington Road.


For reasons that remain unknown, the SUV was struck by a motorcycle traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 50. The motorcycle operator has been identified as Jesse Paul, 23, of Centreville, Maryland.


Paul sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment.


A passenger in the Lexus, Donald Gibson, 72, of Queenstown, Maryland, was taken by ambulance to the University of Maryland Shore Emergency Center at Queenstown for treatment of his injuries. The driver of the Lexus was reported uninjured.


The crash forced the closure of Ocean Gateway for more than an hour while investigators worked at the scene. Personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration provided assistance during the investigation.


The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the active and ongoing investigation into the incident.
