Virginia Couple Arrested Following Road Rage Incident in Somerset County
Somerset County, MD - Maryland State Police have arrested a man and a woman from Virginia following an alleged road rage dispute involving a firearm. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon on Route 13 in Somerset County.
Troopers responded to a 9-1-1 call shortly before 2:20 p.m. near Revells Neck Road. A victim reported traveling south behind a blue Volkswagen when the driver, identified as 31-year-old Kiana Chandler, abruptly checked her brakes.
The victim stated that when he moved to the next lane to pass, Chandler pointed a gun at him. No injuries were reported during the encounter.
Police from the Princess Anne Barrack and Pocomoke City Police Department located the suspect vehicle shortly after the report. They conducted a high-risk traffic stop just before the Virginia state line.
Officers discovered a 9mm handgun and a loaded magazine inside the car and took both occupants into custody.
Kiana Chandler faces charges including first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. She was released on a $30,000 unsecured bond.
An unsecured bond in the State of Maryland is a type of surety bond that does not require the person posting the bond to pledge collateral (such as property or cash).
The passenger, 31-year-old Rendell Chandler, was charged with a handgun offense and released on his own recognizance.
State Police are urging witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Princess Anne Barrack.
