Wicomico County, MD - The Wicomico County Council has made a significant advancement in enhancing wireless connectivity by approving Resolution 53-2025. This resolution allows for a tower lease agreement with Cellco Partnership, also known as Verizon Wireless.

The initiative aims to improve wireless services on the west side of the county, particularly in the Bivalve area.

This authorization comes after two years of dedicated efforts led by the Wicomico County Executive's Office to enhance connectivity in the county's underserved regions. County Executive Julie Giordano emphasized the importance of infrastructure development, especially in rural areas, as a priority for her administration.

She noted that improved cellular services would facilitate daily communication, enhance public safety, and boost economic opportunities. The success of this initiative is credited to the diligent work of the Emergency Services team and Matt Leitzel, the former Assistant Director of Administration.

The new communications tower, part of the lease agreement, is expected to significantly improve cell coverage for residents, first responders, and local businesses in the Bivalve area.

Following the resolution's approval, Wicomico County will move forward with implementing the lease and coordinating construction timelines with Verizon Wireless.
