Wicomico County Declares State of Emergency, Announces Closures
Wicomico County, MD - Wicomico County officials have declared a State of Emergency due to severe weather conditions affecting the area. This declaration is in effect starting at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026, and will continue through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2026.
In response to the weather event, the County Executive announced that all Wicomico County Government buildings will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026. Nonessential employees are not required to report to work during this closure. However, essential personnel are expected to report as scheduled and should adhere to their specific departmental protocols.
Adjustments have also been made to waste disposal services. The county landfill and all convenience centers are closed for the remainder of Sunday, January 25, 2026.
These facilities will operate on a delayed schedule on Monday. The landfill is set to reopen at 9:00 a.m., while convenience centers will resume operations at 12:00 p.m.
Residents are advised to prioritize safety and monitor official county communications for any further updates or changes to these schedules.
