Wicomico County Establishes New Planning and Zoning Commission

Wicomico County, MD - Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano is proud to announce the confirmation of appointments to its newly created Planning and Zoning Commission. The Commission will oversee community development, land use planning, and growth management throughout the county.
The Wicomico County Council approved seven appointments to the Commission:
- Charles R. Dashiell, Jr.
- Daniel Morena-Holt
- Minister George Mandel Copeland
- Tanesha Siggers
- Mary T. Denton
- James R. Thomas, Jr., P.E., F.A.C.E.C.
- Sara Bynum-King
Diverse Professional Backgrounds
The appointees represent various fields including engineering, public service, community development, faith leadership, and economic advancement. This range of expertise ensures the Commission addresses both technical planning needs and community values.
Charles R. Dashiell, Jr. will serve as the Commission's chair. His background in law and public service will guide the Commission's leadership responsibilities.

Commission Responsibilities
The Commission will collaborate with the Wicomico County Department of Planning, Zoning, and Community Development. Director Tracey Taylor leads this department. Together, they will review planning policies, zoning regulations, and development projects.
The Planning and Zoning Commission provides recommendations on zoning matters, comprehensive planning, and land use issues. These recommendations ensure development aligns with community needs and long-term strategic goals.
