WICOMICO COUNTY JURY CONVICTS DELMAR MAN OF SEXUAL ABUSE OF A MINOR AND ATTEMPTED SECOND-DEGREE RAPE
WICOMICO COUNTY, MD - On December 3, 2025, a jury in Wicomico County convicted Derrick Henderson, 51, of Delmar, Maryland, on multiple charges following a two-day trial presided over by the Honorable Kathleen L. Beckstead, Chief Judge of the Circuit Court for Wicomico County.
Henderson was found guilty of two counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor, Attempted Rape in the Second Degree, Attempted Sexual Offense in the Fourth Degree, and Sexual Solicitation of a Minor.
The charges stem from incidents involving a minor within the defendant's household in 2024. Further details regarding the offense remain confidential to protect the privacy of the minor victim.
Sentencing has been deferred pending the completion of a mandatory pre-sentence investigation and mental health assessment. Henderson remains in custody awaiting sentencing.
The investigation was led by Detective G. Wells of the Salisbury Police Department, with assistance from the Wicomico County Child Advocacy Center. The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant State's Attorney Michael Calabrese.
Wicomico County State's Attorney Jamie L. Dykes acknowledged the efforts of law enforcement and the testimony provided during the proceedings.
