Wicomico County Man Arrested and Charged with Rape, Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse of a Minor and Other Charges
Wicomico County, MD - Detectives with the Wicomico County Child Advocacy Center began an investigation on March 12, 2026, into the reported sexual abuse of a minor child. The suspect in the incident is Russell Lee Camper.
According to investigators, the abuse is alleged to have occurred over several years before the initial report was made.
During the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued by a District Court Commissioner.
Russell Lee Camper was charged with second-degree rape, child abuse, sexual abuse of a minor, second-degree assault, and fourth-degree sexual offense.
On March 13, 2026, Camper was located and taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Wicomico County Detention Center, where he appeared before the District Court Commissioner and was held without bond.
Authorities said the alleged sexual assaults took place while the victim was a student at Parkside High School. Camper was employed as an instructional aide by the Board of Education from 2002 through 2025.
