Wicomico County Man Charged with Impersonating Police Officer; Maryland State Police Seek Public Assistance

SALISBURY, MD - Maryland State Police are requesting assistance from the public as they continue their investigation into a 19-year-old Salisbury man accused of impersonating a police officer and unlawfully operating a Maryland State Police vehicle.
The suspect, identified as Jayden Ballard, was served a criminal summons on February 12, 2025. He is charged with impersonating a police officer and the unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.
Authorities allege that Ballard gained access to a marked Maryland State Police vehicle in February 2025. According to investigators, he wore a Maryland State Police uniform while operating the vehicle across Wicomico County and conducted unauthorized traffic stops.
Investigators are seeking information from individuals who may have encountered Ballard during this time. Anyone who believes they may have been stopped or interacted with Ballard while he was impersonating a Maryland State Trooper is urged to contact the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division.
